Assignment 1: A3 Character Doodling

Firstly, I will choose a 2D character to do a doodle by using different elements and draw it on A4 paper.

This is the mind map of Sakuragi Hanamichi

This is my final result of the doodle of Sakuragi Hanamichi on an A3 paper. The elements I used here are the story of his life and the elements that describe his personality.

These are the elements I use in my character.
  1. The stars that stand out in the dark describe that he is a naïve young man.
  2. The swirls describe that he's sometimes clumsy and clueless.
  3. The straight lines describe him that he's a hardworking and straightforward young man.
  4. The cotton-like element describes him that he's sometimes feeling troubled.
  5. The bracket line describes the movement of the basketball.
  6. The bling element describes that he gets fascinated by new basketball skills very easily.
  7. The DNA line describes a basketball skill called "dribbling" that Sakuragi likes to show off to others.
  8. The basketball element describes that he's a basketball player and he loves basketball.
  9. The punch element describes that he's strong and he's very good at fighting.
  10. The punch effect element describes that he's a young boy that doesn't give up no matter how tough it's.
  11. The angry element describes that he's a bit short-tempered.
  12. The black and white strip element describes that he's a delinquent but he's a kind and caring person.
  13. The love and heartbreaking love element describe his love interest, he falls in love and is soon heartbroken, this process keeps repeating and repeating.
  14. The rainfall line element describes that he's a high spirit young man and the movement of him jumping high.
  15. The wear-out sports shoe and new sports shoe element describe that he trains hard that he didn't even notice that his sports shoe has worn out.
  16. The fire element describes that he easily gets fired up if there's a challenge.
  17. The money with wings describes that he's very poor.
  18. The bee trail line element describes that he became clueless as a beginner when the others talked about basketball rules and skills.
 

Group Assignment: A3 Pic Collage

This is the first experiment we do, the comments we received are 
  • The arrangement is too messy.
  • There are too many black spaces between the clothes and the makeup products.
  • The focus point is the lady but the clothes and the makeup products cover it.
  • Didn't know where to look at.
  • Here we use the radial balance. But it's not visible once we put too many pic.

This is the second experiment, the comments we received are
  • This is much better than experiment 1 as there's a visible focal point.
  • The color contrast here is very well used.
  • The word  “SHOPPING” and the cube product are arranged perfectly.
  • Here we use continuation on the color cubes.

This is the final, the comments we received are
  • This is way better than the others as it's in ascending order, you know where to look first.
  • The idea of using the clothes and makeup products to form love shapes is marvelous and it's perfectly arranged.
  • It's very clever by using makeup products to present the word.
  • The color contrast is well arranged and the color harmony is perfect.
  • We can see the images are increasing in ascending order.
  • There's continuation & asymmetrical balance used.
